School and Things Like That...

Dear Reader

I may have to bale on the 30 books to movies challenge as I have just signed on for another 2 credit course, which brings my credit hours to 18. I also have some serious decisions to make regarding my future, not to mention a ton of grad applications to fill out. I will do my best to read and watch as much as I can and I will post accordingly.

Until next time,

Happy New Year

Dear Reader,

I hope your New Year's Eve is going better than mine. I have had the most frustrating 5 minutes of my life. I received an overdue notice from the local library. This notice states that I have a movie checked out that is not one that I have ever checked out. While I do enjoy an occasional foreign film, I would not watch a movie about a film crew making a movie. That just seems boring to me. Anyway, the media lady called me and basically said that I have to pay for the movie. Then she proceeded to lecture me about how the patron is responsible for items checked out on their card as if I didn't already know that. I would like to think that while I am blonde I am not stupid. I am fully aware that I have to pay for this movie. What I want to know is why patrons have to pay for the employee's mistakes? I did not check out that movie. On the off chance that I did (and I mean really off, like the sky was falling and that DVD was only thing I could grab to put over my head to keep pieces of sky from knocking me out) I checked every DVD case, I pulled my bed a part, I looked under every couch and cushion, I looked in my car and I even checked the fridge, the icebox and the dishwasher. Nothing. So, I must conclude that I did not check that movie out. Also, I am highly offended that this woman seems to think that an adult would not rent Peter Pan. Actually, if I didn't already own it, I probably would rent it.

Now I owe the library 15.00 dollars and my reputation as decent patron is shot to hell. I'm also not proud of the fact that I lost my cool and I think I even screamed at the lady. That behavior is uncalled for and it probably wasn't her fault.

Anyway, I hope 2010 starts out better than last year and ends better than this year.

I also have to confess that as of my last post I have not actually read a single thing. I have done nothing but watch Criminal Minds and I have developed a crush on Dr. Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler). As soon as I'm done with CM I will read Whip It. I need to read something easy.

Anyway Happy New Year!

Happy Christmas!!!!!

Dear Reader,

I hope your having a happy Christmas Eve and I hope you get everything you want tomorrow!

I have decided what book I will start my challenge with. It will be Persuasion. Technically I have already read it and watched the Ciaran Hinds version. I know this probably cheating, but their is a new movie version which I have not seen and so, I will reread the book and watch the new movie!

I will also read Shutter Island. I was planning in reading it anyway because I already wanted to see the movie. However, I probably won't do the review until February since the movie will not be released until then.

Well, just wanted to give that update.

Happy Reading!

Welcome to The Delightful Society!

Dear Reader,

I have a confession to make. I have tried countless times to keep a blog and I have failed miserably each time! I have promised myself that this time will be different! I can do this. I will be diligent!

Now that I have got that out of the way. Let me introduce my latest attempt at blogging. This blog is about books. I love books! I do. I love them! I love the way they smell and the way they feel in my hands. I love to listen to books and I love to watch movies based on books (even though I generally want to gouge my eyes out after). I have always known this, but when somebody at my local pub/restaurant asked me what I had been doing over my break and I answered "Oh. I read The Elephant Vanishes and a biography about Robert Capa!" I realized that my life is books. I live for them. All of them. Even the ones I don't like. As the quote at the top of my blog states they are a delightful society!

So, I present this blog to you. I hope you enjoy it. I begin with a challenge.

 button,30 Books To Movies

I stumbled on this earlier today and decided to give it a try. I think it'll be fun! I have no idea what my first book/movie will be. I should start of with something I never read or seen. I need to think. I need to research (my other favorite pastime!).

I will say good night, then! Happy reading!
